By Merlin was contacted in 2019 by ATCO to provide acoustical lagging on some piping leading to a gas letdown station. Gas is under pressure when it comes into the station via the high-pressure transmission line, letdown stations are used to knock down the pressure of gas coming in for distribution to the homes in the area. Burners and pipelines are the dominant noise sources at these types of facilities.
After discussions with the client it was determined that an acoustical barrier wall that surrounded the piping was a more preferred solution than lagging the pipes. Merlin successfully completed the installation of the acoustical barrier in the winter of 2019.
